Big names in music industry head to Athens and Thessaloniki for this summer's concerts. The biggest concerts and festivals for summer 2014 are the following:
Gogol Bordello, a Gypsy punk band known for theatrical stage shows comes for two concerts in Thessaloniki and Athens, on May 7 and 8. The band incorporates accordion and violin mixed with punk and dub. Pink Martini, the well-known musical group whose music combines genres such as classical, Latin, jazz and classic pop, follow on May 16 and 17, at Gazi, Athens. Thievery Corporation will play in Athens and Thessaloniki, on June 17 and 18. The Greek group Imam Baildi will open the concert.
Radio Station’s En Lefko Festival will be held at the Technopolis, in Athens, on June 20, 21. The festival includes big names: Simple Minds, Karuan & Band, Mike Simonetti (Italians Do It Better), Bottin, Egg Hell, Boy George, Gramatik, Nick Waterhouse, Aeroplane and Alex Gopher.
After four years, Bob Dylan returns to Greece to give two unique concerts in Athens (Terra Vibe) and Thessaloniki, on June 22 and 23, respectively.
Ejekt Festival, which celebrates its 10th year, will be held in Athens on June 25. Famous groups and musicians such as White Lies, Editors and Paul Kalkbrenner will participate.
Rockwave Festival will run at Terra Vibe, from July 10 to 13. Eric Burdon, Calexico, Joey Burns, John Convertino and Woodkid are among the participating artists.
Furthermore, James will play at the Theatro Vrahon, on July 15 and Placebo, at the Stadium of Peace and Friendship, on August 8.
Last but not least, the American eccentric singer Lady Gaga, will play at the Olympic Stadium (OAKA), on September 19.
