The 5th GEOBIA Conference (Geographic Object-Based Image Analysis) opened in Thessaloniki on May 21 and runs through May 24. It is organized by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in collaboration with the Interbalkan Environment Centre, and the Democritus University of Thrace.
There is world-wide interest in the emerging field of geographic object-based image analysis. GEOBIA events bring together the technical and scientific community of remote sensing and environmental sciences, promoting the development of GEOBIA concepts, methods and applications. Keynote speakers are form Canada, United States, and England. The international audience includes scientists, professionals and users, of academic, industry, public sector and governmental background, coming from the fields of environment and mineral resource management, agriculture, forestry and urban development.
