The first conference of "ENtopia: Our places in Europe" was organized by the Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage on the island of Chios on March 28-30.The event was the first international meeting of the new Europa Nostra programme "ENtopia," aiming at assisting small communities with a population of under 15,000 residents to preserve and sustain their historical, architectural and environmental heritage, and secure international funding.
The programme included presentations from nominated towns/villages from 10 countries that meet the required criteria of the programme, along with the organisational and financial issues involved. It is noted that the Mastic Villages of Chios, Skyros, Sikinos and Skopelos were chosen by the Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage to participate in the programme.
