The Greek Northern Ballet Company, a newly founded classical dance group consisting of distinguished Greek and foreign dancers, holds its first public performance at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, on March 16. An International Gala with pas de deux and variations repertoire of ballets such as Don Quixote , Flames of Paris , Corsair , Coppelia , La Fille Mal Gardée, Esmeralda and many more. Athanassios Routianidis is the artistic director.

- Women Artists in the Russian Avant-Garde @ NMCA
The National Museum of Contemporary Art is holding the exhibition Women Artists in the Years of the Russian Avant-Garde (1910-1930), at the Moni Lazariston, until May 25. It is a selection of works by Yelena Guro, Natalia Goncharova, Olga Rozanova, Liubov’ Popova, Alexandra Exter, and many more acclaimed women artist, from the Costaki collection. The exhibition highlights that woman artists in the years of the Russian avant-garde were as many as their male colleagues, something that is not observed in the European avant-garde, respectively.

- Manos Hadjidakis @ Megaron
Manos Hadjidakis’ love of poetry is well known, and his poetic sensibility is striking in his work and the lyrics he has written himself for some of his songs. Pianist Dora Bakopoulou plays the piano and baritone Tassis Christoyannis sings a selection of his songs as an irrefutable evidence of a vital and fertile relationship between music and poetry. At the Athens Concert Hall, on March 16.
F I L M F E S T I V A L S
- French Film Festival @ French Institute
The film by Jalil Lespert “YSL” on the life of Yves Saint Laurent will open the 15th French Film Festival on March 19, marking the beginning of the traditional spring rendezvous of Francophone cinema with the Greek public. In all, 47 films will be screened at the French Institute and the movie theatre Danaos-Embassy Nova Odeon. Nine of these are participating in the competition section and are being released in for Greece the first time. The famous actress Nathalie Baye, who is the president of the festival, will be honored with a special award. The festival will run until March 26 in Athens and will travel to Thessaloniki from March 27 to April 2, at the movie theatre Pavlos Zannas.
