"The response to the crisis is more and better Europe," Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said on March 7, speaking at the European People's Party (EPP) European Elections Congress in Dublin. “We will not allow populism and extremism to hurt the European edifice,” he emphasised.

Samaras stated that the economy is not just numbers, noting that behind them are people, and stressed that policies fighting unemployment, especially the youth one, will have to be boosted. "Ireland, Portugal, Cyprus, Greece are doing much better. Greece is recovering and soon will exit the crisis. All these successes came despite the predictions. Europe is working. We believed in ourselves" he added.

In his address at the EPP Congress, the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, underlined that "Greece is exiting the crisis; it has achieved a primary surplus thanks to Antonis Samaras' leadership."
