US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland who is visiting Athens, said that Washington fully supported the reforms implemented by the Greek government, aiming at stimulating growth and strengthening investments.

After a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos on Monday, Nuland stated they discussed both international and regional issues such as the developments in Syria, Iran, and support for the negotiations on the Cyprus issue and the situation in Libya; they further discussed terrorism and energy.

The American official pointed that Greece’s presidency of the EU stands as an opportunity to promote US-EU cooperation and welcomed Athens’ contribution in promoting the Euro-Atlantic dialogue.

Nuland was also received by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras; moreover she met with the American business community in Greece and visited the Microsoft innovation centre, where she met young people who, as she stated, "take Greek economy to the next level."
