E X H I B I T I O N S
  • Rooms 2014 @ St. George Lycabettus
Kappatos Gallery presents the annual contemporary art exhibition Rooms 2014 at St George Lycabettus hotel, from February 13 to 28. In one of the most popular exhibitions of contemporary art, 20 curators, art historians and art theorists, present an artist or artist group; each artist or group is shown in a room, with the hotel room transformed into the private space of the artist. Twenty-five different artists take part with sound, photography and visual art installations, painting, sculpture, projects, design, performances, films, etc.

C H I L D R E N
  • Transformations: Workshop for Children @ Megaron
The Workshop Transformations that offers an experience which mixes dance and the visual arts, will be held at the Athens Concert Hall until April 6. Children from 6 to 12 years old are invited to identify the architectural elements of the workshop space, then reproduce them in graphic form on tent canvas and then reform it into ephemeral architecture. This textile object then becomes the children’s costume. The workshop is organized in co-operation with the Centre Pompidou, Paris.


F E S T I V A L S
  • Hertz @ Botanic Live Stage
Hertz, the annual festival of experimental music returns on February 16 at the Botanic Live Stage. The participant groups are the British Demdike Stare -that merges noise, free jazz, house, techno and concrete music in an adventurous sound  collages -  BioMechanica who combines original rhythms and musical complication, and Diamond Version who play experimental techno and their aesthetic is characterized by the surreal and sinister humor.


M U S I C
  • Athens State Orchestra @ Onassis Cultural Centre
The Athens State Orchestra inaugurates its collaboration with the Onassis Cultural Centre with a concert on February 17. The repertoire includes works by Maurice Ravel and Igor Stravinsky, juxtaposed against the première performance of a work by the young Greek composer, Nikolas Tzortzis, who studied and lives in France, and a fascinating piece by the young French composer, Raphaël Cendo. Vasilis Christopoulos will conduct and the distinguished Greek pianist Stephanos Thomopoulos, will be palying.

  • David Sedaris@ Onassis Cultural Centre
American-Greek writer David Sedaris, one of America’s pre-eminent humor writers, will discuss with writer and journalist Yorgos Archimandritis, at the   Onassis Cultural Centre, on February 18. The great skill with which he deconstructs cultural stereotypes and political correctness proves that Sedaris is a master of satire and one of the most observant writers addressing the human condition today.
