Within the framework of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the EU (first semester of 2014), the Hellenic Ministry of Culture & Sports is organizing the conference "Financing Creativity," taking place today at the Athens Concert Hall.

The main objective of this event is to mark the new philosophy for the cultural and creative sector in Europe. It aims to inform on the growing importance of the creative economy, the promotion of innovation, the role of the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) for economic growth and social cohesion.

It also aims to familiarize with the existing tools and expertise that can facilitate start-ups and access to finance for the CCIs, to highlight the importance of cultural tourism and regional development and the new opportunities that are opening up for employment growth, especially for young people. Speakers include Minister of Culture and Sports, Panos Panagiotopoulos, and Commissioner of the EU for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, Androulla Vassiliou.
