Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos - representing the Council of the European Union - addressed the European Parliament Plenary session in Strasbourg yesterday, on the Single Resolution Mechanism (SRM) and the need to approve a financial transaction tax.
He supported the rapid adoption of a tax on financial transactions on a broad basis and stressed that it was "necessary and urgent" to promote measures for banking reform in Europe.
In addition, Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Venizelos signed a series of EU legislations with the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz.
