Defence Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos participated in a two-day Meeting of NATO Defence Ministers in Brussels on February 26-27. During the Meeting, ministers focused on issues such as improving interoperability and promoting the Connected Forces Initiative (CFI) on operational preparedness.

In his statement, following the meeting, Avramopoulos stressed that "the new strategic challenges are reasonably the main focus of NATO’s interest" and that "Greece participates and intercedes in these procedures through specific suggestions and positions which aim at reinforcing the Alliance, but also the role of our country as a stabilising factor in the wider region." He also added that (…) "Greece remains the most stable, powerful and stabilising factor in an unstable region which starts (…) from Ukraine and ends in Tunisia" He reiterated that maritime protection is a top priority in the agenda of the Greek EU Presidency.
