The Hippie! Hippie! Matala! Matala! documentary by Giorgos Varelas will be screened at the French Institute in Athens on January 8. The documentary is a tribute to the Hippie movement during the 60's and their lives in the caves of Matala, a poor fishing village in Southern Crete.

It sheds lights into the controversy around the unique international community of Matala based on interviews of former hippies having returned to the scene of their youth.

The 70 year-old stars of the story convince us that you’re never too old to rock ‘n roll. After all, as one of them said: “Here we are, stuck in these aging bodies…But we are still the same, hippies… if you want to call us hippies.”
