The inauguration of festivities during the Hellenic Presidency of the EU Council is taking place tonight in Brussels - Greek Mythology and Baroque Opera - at one of the most prestigious cultural venues in Brussels, the Bozar Center for Fine Arts.

The Armonia Atenea orchestra, headed by Greek conductor George Petrou, with soprano Myrsini Margariti and mezzos Mary-Ellen Nesi and Irini Karagianni will present a programme that focuses on baroque operas whose subject matter is taken from Greek mythology.

 The concert is an initiative of the Greek Permanent Representation to the EU and the Embassy of Greece in Brussels, and is being funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
