Main opposition SYRIZA party leader Alexis Tsipras was briefed yesterday on the progress of the ongoing inquiry on the role of the troika in the countries under Memorandum conducted by deputy Othmar Karas and Mr Liêm Hoang Ngoc, co-rapporteurs of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.

In a statement following the meeting, Tsipras said that he handed SYRIZA’s report on the humanitarian crisis in Greece to them.

He said that the troika lacks democratic legitimacy and he proposed the extension of the duration and scope of the mandate of the inquiry group. Today, Tsipras is scheduled to meet Olli Rehn, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Euro.
