The 12th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities are hosting the temporary exhibition "Pyrrhus Leader King - Epirus of the Mediterranean and the Universe" at the Archaeological Museum of Ioannina, already in progress, which will be running until December 31, 2013.

The exhibition outlines King Pyrrhus’ (318 – 272 BC) complex personality, in celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the incorporation of Ioannina town into the Greek state. The exhibition aims to trace the march of the Epirote King from the mountains of Epirus to Sicily, Macedonia and Peloponnese, to give an account of his adventurous life and shed light on aspects of his time.

The exhibition opened in October 2013, and includes works of art and artifacts from the Acropolis Museum, the National Archaeological Museum, the Numismatic Museum of Athens, the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, Florina, Argos Orestikon, Arta as well as the Archaeological Museums of Naples, Villa Giulia and Reggio Calabria in Italy.
