The workshop Body and Spirit: The Dynamics of an Antithesis, will be held at the Onassis Cultural Centre, on November 15. The purpose of the roundtable, which is part of the Athens Dialogues project, is to discuss issues pertaining to the relationship between body and spirit and its expression through philosophy, art and science. Through a diachronic perspective the discussion will cover ancient Greek thought, medieval developments and modern notions, where reason emerged as the predominant tool for the scientific progress; it will also examine whether today, at a time of an international economic crisis,  a transition to new approaches to concepts concerning matter and spirit will emerge.

The 2nd Israeli Film Week will be held at the Cacoyannis Foundation, until November 19. The tribute Tales from the Israeli Cities, organised in cooperation with the Embassy of Israel in Athens, presents 7 Award-winning Films. Through dramatic and comic stories, the Greek audience will be introduced to the various aspects of everyday life in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Bat Yam and Haifa .

On the occasion of 20 years since Federico Fellini’s death, the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens and Michael Cacoyannis Foundation present a tribute to the great director , from November 18 to 24. The tribute will include a retrospective with some of his most famous films like La Dolce Vita, I Vitelloni, Lo Sceicco Bianco, Roma, Ginger e Fred, and a photo-exhibition about Fellini’s moments at the backstage of his creations.

M U S I C

The complete soundtrack of the film A touch of spice (Politiki Kouzina) will be staged at the Pallas Theatre, on November 18 and 19. Ten years after the launching of the film, the composer of its music, Evanthia Rebutsika, will travel her audience to a multicultural Istanbul of scents and spice. Greek Natasa Theodoridou and Turkish Dilec Koc, who have sang at the original soundtrack, will also participate.
