Internationally bestselling British author Victoria Hislop shared with an audience of journalists and tour operators her experiences from visiting Thessaloniki, while researching for her latest novel The Thread, which describes historical events that occurred in the city since 1917. "Thessaloniki has a soul. What is going on in this city is difficult to put into words," she told journalists who inquired about the advantages of Thessaloniki as a tourist destination.

Hislop highlighted everything that has enchanted and inspired her, including the people, the sunset, the vast seafront and the local cuisine.

The promotional event was held during the presentation of the City of Thessaloniki, at the recent World Travel Market in London, UK and was organised by the Thessaloniki Hotels Association
