Smart Islands, an EU project for developing special apps for the Mediterranean islands is launching its first app for Hydra Island in Greece. Smart Islands integrates multiple services for citizens and tourists under a 3D Tablet-PC interface, featuring tourism, transport, environment, health, and civil protection issues. The project will include 20+ Mediterranean Islands from Greece, Italy, Spain, Cyprus and Malta.
The island of Hydra "features unique architecture and natural environment, long history and rich heritage, cosmopolitan life and tradition," and has thus been selected as the first Smart-Islands app.

Smart Hydra is a Location Based Mobile App for iPad/Android and an online 3D viewer providing information on travelling, accommodation, entertainment, leisure, history, weather, health, public issues, and much more. The app is already available on istore and Google Play and promises a "new way to enjoy the island of Hydra".
