The 15th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival - Images of 21st Century is taking place from March 15 to 24, with a versatile programme that includes documentary films from around the world and a host of parallel events such as open discussions, lectures, masterclasses, and a photography exhibition.
Aiming to inform, raise awareness and mobilize the public around issues that require a critical attitude and active participation, the Festival is a tribute marking its 15th anniversary, with a selection of films that were screened and loved by the public during its course. It is also paying homage to Chilean filmmaker Patricio Guzman, with a special tribute dedicated to his work.
The Festival opens with dancer-turned-filmmaker Bess Kargman's award-winning First Position [VIDEO], a documentary about the toughness of mind and body demanded of young classical ballet dancers. As always, the Festival includes a Greek section, a Human Rights section as well as a Society & Environment section.
