Perched on the slopes of Mount Olympus, Old Panteleimon is a village of picturesque beauty and magnificent views, a real-life window onto the mythical mountain and the Olympus Riviera.

Panteleimon is built at an altitude of 700 metres and is surrounded by the abundant Olympus flora, with rich forests of chestnut trees and beeches around, and centuries-old plane trees in gardens and squares.

A walk along the cobbled streets reveals small gems of traditional architecture among the old buildings and leads to Panteleimon’s glorious central square: an enormous bicentenarian plane-tree, the 18th century miniature St. Panteleimon church, and a splendid view onto the Aegean.

This enchanting stone-paved square has become an attraction for visitors from the whole Pieria area, who head there for a drink or meal after a hiking-trip on the mountain or swim. As the old church is very popular with locals for weddings, don’t be surprised if you find a wedding feast in one of the different tavernas: just toast the newly weds and carry on…enjoying the view.
