A joint declaration between Greece and Turkey was signed by the two countries’ Prime Ministers, Antonis Samaras and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during the former’s visit to Istanbul, on March 4.The two PMs also co-chaired a meeting of the 2nd High-Level Cooperation Council, during which a host of agreements relating to various issues were signed between competent ministers, including: the 2020 Summer Olympic Games; a Cultural, Educational, Scientific, Mass Media, Youth and Sports Exchange Programme for the years 2013-2015, and cooperation in Humanitarian Aid and Agriculture.
Health issues, enhanced collaboration dealing with illegal migration and readmission procedures, and cooperation in identifying, protecting and preserving cultural heritage in the context of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention were also among the agreements signed between the two countries.
