Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos wrapped up, on February 27, a three-day official visit to Canada, during which he met with Senate Speaker Noel Kinsella and his Canadian counterpart John Baird, for talks focusing on the latest developments in Europe and the efforts to deal with the economic crisis, EU-Canada relations, and the developments in Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Avramopoulos also met with representatives of major Canadian companies visited the Greek Community Centre in Toronto, and met with His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios of Canada.
  •  Greek-Canadian Youth Mobility Agreement
A Youth Mobility Agreement between Greece and Canada, signed during Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s visit to Greece in May 2011, and ratified by the Hellenic Parliament on October 31, 2012, entered into force on February 1, 2013. Interested Greek citizens may consult the website of the Canadian Embassy in Athens, while Canadian citizens may consult the website of the Greek Embassy in Ottawa. Information on  prerequisites and related documents will also be uploaded on the websites of the respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

Hailing the agreement, Foreign Ministers Avramopoulos and Baird noted that agreement presents the youth of both countries with an opportunity, and, in that sense, is an investment in the future.
