On March 8, Foreign Affairs Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos met with his Kosovo counterpart Enver E. Hoxhaj on the occasion of the establishment of a Kosovo Commercial Affairs Office in Athens. Following their meeting, Avramopoulos said while Greece’s stance on the Kosovo status remains unchanged, the foundation of a commercial office "sends a clear message that development is a key tool and catalyst, for peace, a tool that [Greece is] determined to use."

The country’s goal is to create a space of security, stability and development in the wider Southeast European region and for this reason economic cooperation and peaceful resolution of differences through diplomacy are deemed as a sine qua non. He also noted that Kosovo needs to fulfill the criteria and carry out all the reforms included in the EU Stabilization and Association Agreement evaluation framework.

On his part, Hoxhaj expressed his gratitude to the Greek people and the government for their support in crucial times and noted that Kosovo is interested in increasing cooperation with Greece in trade, education, culture and tourism,  noting that already 76 Greek companies have invested in the country.
