Maximos Zachariadis, is a successful Greek jewellery designer who has recently produced a range of items for the British Museum. The collection includes coral and mother of pearl earrings and matching necklaces. All items, inspired by the designer’s Greek heritage, are hand-carved on semi-precious stones and materials into the shape of an amphora.
Zachariadis draws much of his inspiration from clean, geometric forms, giving special attention to detail.
As he notes, the spark of creativity within the then teenage Maximos was ignited when his mother’s jewellery was stolen, motivating him to restore what was lost using materials available in the house.
