
Prime Minister
Antonis Samaras visited Cyprus, on January 11, to attend an extraordinary meeting of the
European People's Party (EPP) in Limassol. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, as well as leaders of parties belonging to the Europarliament's EPP group and Prime Ministers
attended the meeting, the agenda of which included the 2014 EU Parliament elections and the long-term fiscal framework.

On the sidelines of the meeting hosted by Cyprus Democratic Rally (DISY) party, the Greek Premier met with his Irish counterpart Enda Kenny, who is expected in Athens in the near future, as Ireland is currently holding the presidency of the EU Council.
Samaras also expressed
confidence that Cyprus will also succeed in its effort to overcome the crisis.
