Greece has risen to the most preferred vacation destination for Austrians, according to Josef Peterleitner, director of the Austrian branch of Europe’s leading travel group TUI.

In a statement in Kleine Zeitung and Oesterreich newspapers, Peterleitner forecast that Greek tourism will recover quickly, adding that Greece is already the top destination in bookings for this year in the Austrian tourist market, with Turkey in the second position. He pointed out that bookings for Greece have risen by nearly 20%, compared to 2012.

TUI has expanded its itinerary to Greece where, as Peterleitner noted, prices have been kept at 2012 levels, which makes holidays there an affordable option. Greece is also considered a safe and politically stable tourist destination that meets family needs. He added that fears of strikes and unrest in Greece in 2012 had not come true; on the contrary, the quality of services was excellent and visitors were satisfied.
