Starting May 9, internationally acclaimed Irish-American artist Sean Scully presents his first exhibition in Greece at the Benaki Museum (Pireos Street Annex).
Titled Doric Order, the exhibition is inspired by the city of Athens and features six monumental works that explore the Doric architectural form that accompanied the birth of democracy.
Scully wishes to pay homage to Athens as cradle of democracy and has chosen the city for the world premiere of his works that will then travel to New York and London. The exhibition will also include watercolor paintings and screen printings from Scully’s thirty year artistic career and will be on display until July 15.
