  • Skiadaresis Awarded @ Newport Beach
Greek actor Gerasimos Skiadaresis won the Best Actor award at the 13th Newport Beach Film Festival for his performance in Apartment in Athens, a film directed by Ruggero Dipaola.

The film follows an Athenian family during the Nazi occupation, with Skiadaresis starring as the father who faces difficult choices to help his family survive.

The film premiered at the latest Italian cinema festival in Athens, Tutto Italia on April 19, and won a total of 4 awards at the Newport Beach festival, including Best Screenplay and Best Feature Length Film.

  • Award for Little King
Popular Greek actor Sokratis Alafouzos made his debut as screenwriter and director with the short film Little King.

Alafouzos stars in the film, as a 40-year-old man, abused in childhood, who never overcomes his anger and turns to crime. Little King was bestowed the Audience’s Choice Award at the 60°N Os International Film Festival in Norway. The film received excellent reviews and was previously nominated for several prizes at the European Independent Film Festival and the Cannes-Short film Corner.
