March 21 is designated world-wide as Puppetry Day. To celebrate the day, Unima Hellas and the City of Athens are hosting World Puppetry Day events at Technopolis, on March 24 and 25. Fifteen puppet theatre shows (each 30 to 60 minutes long) will be held on two stages, along with 14 street performances.

In addition, children are invited to participate in workshops and learn how to make puppets and bring them to life. A puppet exhibition, together with video screenings and music concerts will accompany the main events.

Separate workshops, led by puppeteer Angeliki Gounaridi and geared to adults will be also held at Technopolis on March 22 and 23. The Michael Cacoyannis Foundation is hosting until the end of March a three-dimensional shadow show of miniscule figurines with live narration and electronic music.

The show -titled The Crescent Moon Bear, based on the Japanese story Tsuki no Waguma- comes in two versions, one for primary and one for secondary school children and talks about a little child’s journey trying to save her father’s soul.
