After a decade-long restoration, the ancient Greek temple of Athena Nike was revealed yesterday on the Acropolis unburdened of its scaffolding.

The 5th century BC marble building has previously undergone two restorations, which did not pass the test of time. This third restoration involved full dismantling of the building, using advanced technology and corrosion-resistant materials.

"We have used the latest technology, following successful experimentation with stress and aging," said project manager Dionysia Mihalopoulou. "The choice and use of materials was the best possible, they will not corrode," she also added.

Now, with every block of marble in its original position, the refurbished temple joins the also fully restored Erechtheion Temple and citadel gate.
