Fifty years have elapsed since Greece signed a pact with Germany which paved the way for thousands of Greeks to seek employment in Germany as "gastarbeiter," (German for guest workers).
As of October, the Goethe Institute in Athens will host an exhibition, presenting the life of Greek emigrants in Germany throughout the years.
The exhibition will be titled "Expatriation, Emigration, Return. Souvenirs from the first and second home country."
The organisers of the exhibition have gathered documents, photographs, objects and memorabilia from that period and invite the public to contribute to this effort by lending personal belongings to the Institute for the purposes of the exhibition.
