Alternate Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas participated yesterday in the European General Affairs (GAC)and Foreign Affairs Councils (FAC) in Brussels.
The GAC Agenda focused on the Belgian Presidency programme and the preparations for the 26 September European Council, while FAC examined the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Kosovo, the EU presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Middle East peace process.
After the meetings, Droutsas said that he informed his counterparts about Turkey’s moves in the Aegean, stressing that "this conduct is not consistent with the rules of good neighbourly relations or the status of EU accession candidacy." On Kosovo, Alternate FM reiterated Greece’s position on the issue and expressed his intention to visit Belgrade and Pristine in the coming days in an effort to contribute to any process conducive for reaching an agreed solution.
