The Aegean Arts Circle creative writing workshop on the island of Andros, is celebrating its tenth anniversary, from July 6 to 13, with Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Olen Butler leading the workshop for the current year.

Writers from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe gather on Andros to work on their stories, often incorporating Greece’s landscape, history and colours in their writing.

To be accepted, each participant has to submit a writing sample and/or a brief description of a writing project they want to work on while in Andros.

The goal is to produce new work and get the feedback of a talented, inspirational workshop leader who is a master at his/her craft.

Andros is the northernmost of Cyclades island complex in the Aegean and boasts the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation Museum of Contemporary Art.

This summer, the museum is hosting a visual arts tribute titled Approaching Surrealism, lasting from July 1 to September 30, 2012.
