Hellenic Republic President Karolos Papoulias and caretaker Prime Minister Panagiotis Pikrammenos, as well as political leaders from across the board strongly condemned the attack by Golden Dawn spokesperson Ilias Kasidiaris against parliamentary candidates Liana Kanelli of the Communist Party and Rena Dourou of radical left SYRIZA party, which took place yesterday morning during a live TV show.

"This attack is an attack against every democratic citizen. […] Political differences can’t be resolved with violence",Government spokesman Dimitris Tsiodras said in a statement and called on Golden Dawn to condemn the incident. Public prosecutor Eleni Raikou ordered the arrest of Kasidiaris, who remains at large and is also due to stand trial on Monday for a separate incident.
