Starting June 8 and until June 22, New York hosts a special celebration for Greek wines.

For two weeks, the city’s top restaurants and retailers go Greek and invite NY residents to special promotions, tastings, discounts, food-pairings and more.

The event aims to illustrate Greece’s long wine-making, its distinct topography that enables the cultivation of cool weather grapes in a warm weather climate, as well as new Greek wines with perfect balance of high acidity and low alcohol.

Organisers from New Wines Of Greece have identified four ambassador varietals that embody these qualities, while at the same time being the most popular Greek wines in the US market: white assyrtiko and moschofilero, and red agiorgitiko and xinomavro.

More information on the Greek wines available, as well as all participating restaurants and retailers can be found at the Celebrate Greek Wine site, which also serves for direct restaurant table bookings.
