Forty-five Greek wine-growers showcased their products in Montreal, Canada on May 11, as part of the presentation of 2011 wines from Greece. Joining the event were distinguished professionals of wine production, including wine tasters and Quebec-based journalists.

"The participation of 45 wine-producers in the event shows the importance of Greek wine to the Canadian market, and also the wide range of Greek wine varieties," commented Greek Ambassador to Canada Eleftherios Aggelopoulos, noting that Greek wines had an export increase in Quebec by 30% during the past year.

The event was managed by All About Greek Wines. The Montreal event followed a wine-tasting event held in Ottawa, which took place on April 27, titled A Celebration of Greek Wines, where several traditional Greek varieties of wine were introduced to the general public of the Canadian capital, such as Moschofilero, Assyrtiko, Agiorgitiko and Xinomavro.

The Greek wine-tasting event was part of a wider initiative aiming at promoting Greek wine exports in Canada and establishing the "Quality Greek Wine Friends’ Club" in the country.
