The Hellenic Film Academy (HFA) held this year’s awards ceremony, honouring Greek filmmakers and their work at the Onassis Cultural Centre on May 7. The film Unfair World [VIDEO] - directed by Filippos Tsitos - topped the third edition of the HFA Awards by prevailing in the Best Film and Director categories, as well as the Best Actor and the Best Supporting Actor for Antonis Kafetzopoulos and Christos Stergioglou respectively.
George Gigapeppas’s The City of Children [VIDEO] won three awards including that of Best Actress for Kika Georgiou, Best Screenplay, and Best Visual Effects and Cinematic Innovation. The film Christmas Tango [VIDEO] -directed by Nikos Koutelidakis- also won three awards for Best Original Music Score, Art Direction and Costume Design.
Elias Dimitriou was named Best Newcomer Director for his film Fish‘n’Chips [VIDEO], while Christos Karakepelis took home the Best Documentary award for Raw Material [VIDEO]. In this context, Unfair World -which was named Best Film-, will be Greece’s official entry for 2012 Oscar Awards in the Foreign Language Film category.
